A ซีรีย์ฝรั่ง is a television show usually taking place in the Old West that revolves around cowboys, cattle ranchers, miners, farmers, Native Americans, Spaniards, swords, guns, and horses. This genre was the most prevalent style of TV shows in the 1950s and 1960s during the era when hundreds of shows were produced and aired.

Many of these were four-wall westerns, shot inside in as little as three days or less with poorly written scripts. The popularity of these shows even shocked the creators.
The demand for classic westerns declined in the late 1960s, but newer programs combined Western components with different genres like family drama, mystery thrillers, and crime drama. In the 1990s and 2000s, skillfully crafted western series, specifically made for TV emerged.
